What was your first fitness experience?
“My first experience was at the age of 17 years old when I volunteered for 1 year with the Vancouver Police Cadets and they had us put through boot camps & circuit training, some of it was entirely bodyweight style while some other workouts were all weight based.
Prior to this, I’ve always maintained a really good fitness level while training under martial arts, swimming & soccer. However, I really found that I gained an in-depth understanding and perspective of fitness when I began doing boot camps.”
Why did you stick with fitness as a career path?
“For me it comes down to my hyper-activity & constant need to move and be active, I’ve always found it hard to remain seated for long periods of time whether in school, work & other activities. I knew growing up that I fell in love with sports and fitness from a young age, I’ve also always loved teaching and helping others whether it be through advice, spotting or conversing with them.
So I put two and two together and was on the lookout for careers that consisted of these criteria’s that I set for myself, I found personal training as one them and soon enough enrolled myself in a program. It is perfect for me at the moment because I’m able to find good balance between helping others while also always being active.”
What do you believes your purpose in the fitness industry?
“My purpose to me will always be to become the most complete trainer I know I can be and climb my way up the ladder to the point where I can take charge of professional athletes, teams, seniors & teenagers. I definitely encourage the idea that I want to be a trainer that can train anyone regardless of their status, age, goals or physical issues.
Another point that I’d like to cover is I would like to shed more light on living a true healthy and holistic lifestyle while being able to find balance and happiness. For me, speaking truthfully about this subject will help break barriers and common myths that people are brought to believe.”
